CDP Lauds Northrop Grumman for Reducing Carbon Emission for Third Consecutive Year

Achieves a top disclosure score among aerospace and defense peers


FALLS CHURCH, Va. – Sept. 24, 2014 – Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been recognized by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for a third consecutive year for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and business risks associated with environmental impact.

Northrop Grumman was recognized in the CDP S&P 500 Climate Change Report 2014, which tracks the progress America's largest publicly traded companies are making toward achieving environmental sustainability. The report recognizes companies that receive the highest rating for their climate performance assessment and ability to demonstrate a high level of transparency and data quality in their disclosure of climate-related information. CDP is a nonprofit organization that gathers environmental information on behalf of investors.

This is Northrop Grumman's third consecutive year on CDP's Carbon Performance Leadership Index, which this year highlighted 34 companies listed on Standard & Poor's 500 index for their ability to achieve a minimum absolute greenhouse gas emission reduction and third-party verification of their GHG inventory.

Northrop Grumman was among the companies receiving the highest level of third-party verification for a third consecutive year. For a second consecutive year, Northrop Grumman also earned distinction on CDP's Standard & Poor's 500 index Climate Disclosure Leadership Index for evidence of a strong commitment to transparency of its environmental sustainability program and performance. Out of a possible 100, Northrop Grumman received a disclosure score of 98, a top score among aerospace and defense companies, and in the top 1 percent of participating companies.

Northrop Grumman's sustainability program balances energy and resource use reductions with alternative and renewable technology to achieve emissions reductions. In addition to GHG reduction, the company has deployed solid waste generation and water use best management practices, and is on track to achieve its targets in all these areas by the end of 2014.
