LRAD Corporation Receives $640,000 Order for Commercial Safety and Asset Protection in Africa

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 25, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- LRAD Corporation (Nasdaq:LRAD), the world's leading provider of long range acoustic hailing devices (AHDs), today announced the receipt of a $640,000 order for LRAD® 100X and 1000X systems and accessories from a railroad company in Africa. The LRAD units will be used by a public agency security department to maintain safety buffers around equipment, provide warnings to potential vandals, and for crowd control. Part of the order will be delivered during the current fiscal fourth quarter with the balance shipping during our first fiscal quarter of 2015.

"LRAD solutions have been deployed to protect critical infrastructure in the oil and gas industry, the commercial shipping and aviation industries, cruise line and personal vessel security, and for railway and highway safety," noted Tom Brown, President and CEO of LRAD Corporation. "The diverse commercial applications for our LRAD product line continue to expand, providing a catalyst for future growth."

The growing threat environment to critical infrastructure assets has increased the need for enhanced security for commercial maritime interests, harbors, railways, highways, oil pipelines and offshore platforms to protect both people and property. LRAD systems create safety zones by hailing and warning at distances exceeding 3 kilometers. LRADs can be used to determine the intent at distance, and to deter intruders and potential vandals with a highly effective intelligible message or warning tone.
