Northrop Grumman Receives NHS Certification for CommandPoint(TM) Command & Control Software

LONDON – Sept. 30, 2014 – Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been granted NHS 111 Messaging Accreditation by the United Kingdom's National Health Service (NHS) for the company's CommandPoint™ command and control software.

Based on the enhanced functionality CommandPoint provides U.K. London Ambulance services, the newly certified feature enables automated transfer of incident data from nonemergency lines into the command and control system at a 999 centre, lowering response times for these incidents by reducing duplicate data entry by dispatchers.

The NHS 111 service will enable easier access to local NHS providers and for those who need medical help or advice in a non-life-threatening situation. If the situation escalates to an emergency need where an ambulance is required, this new feature automatically transfers the details into CommandPoint™ at the 999 centre, reducing double keying by the operators. Valuable time is saved in the dispatch process, enabling better patient care by the ambulance service.

"This NHS accreditation is another indication of our commitment to the NHS and ambulance services to improve patient care. We are pleased that this CommandPoint™ capability is currently operational and poised for integration with the 111 service, which will result in improved levels of care," said Ed Sturms, vice president and general manager, Civil Division, Northrop Grumman Information Systems.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) has recently taken this latest feature into live use and will soon integrate it with the NHS 111 services. In addition to the improved patient care provided for emergency calls transferred from the 111 service, the CommandPoint™ product provides other unique capabilities to serve the LAS mission.

The auto event entry and auto dispatch capabilities, based on intelligent configurable resource suggestion, are key capabilities ensuring the most effective and expedient response to incidents. In addition, operators are presented information of interest records about persons, places or telephone numbers to aid in decision-making.

Currently in use by London Ambulance Service and in seven of the 10 largest cities in the U.S., Northrop Grumman's suite of public safety systems are mission-critical systems that enable communications centre personnel to dispatch first responders in a rapid and efficient manner to emergency incidents, manage calls, and provide critical information efficiently and effectively to public safety agencies. The system allows personnel to access information, make informed decisions, and meet demands for law enforcement, fire and emergency medical service.
