Otonomy Added To Russell 2000(R) Index


SAN DIEGO, Oct. 1, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Otonomy, Inc. (Nasdaq:OTIC), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of innovative therapeutics for diseases and disorders of the inner and middle ear, today announced that the company was added to the Russell 2000® Index as part of Russell Investments' quarterly addition of select initial public offering (IPO) companies. Otonomy joined the index after the equity markets closed on September 30, 2014.

The Russell 2000 Index measures the performance of the small-cap segment of the U.S. equity universe and is a subset of the Russell 3000® Index. Membership in the Russell 2000 Index results in automatic inclusion in the appropriate growth and value style indexes.

Russell indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for active investment strategies. Approximately $5.2 trillion in assets are benchmarked to the Russell Indexes.
