Nehl Horton Joins Sysco as Senior Vice President, Chief Communications and Government Relations Officer


HOUSTON, Oct. 1, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sysco Corporation (NYSE:SYY) today announced that Nehl Horton has joined the company as senior vice president, chief communications and government relations officer.

Horton will be responsible for the global communications and government relations strategy and execution in support of the company's strategic business objectives with key stakeholders groups, both internal and external. Sysco's corporate communications, government relations, community affairs and corporate giving functions will report to him.

Horton joins Sysco after serving as chief public affairs and communications officer of MillerCoors/Miller Brewing Company, Inc., since 2005. Before then, he led global media relations at pharmaceutical manufacturer Novartis, served in a media relations leadership capacity at Pfizer, and managed numerous government relations and public affairs activities within The Coca-Cola Company over a 10-year period. Prior to working in the corporate sector, he was involved in legislative affairs and communications work. Horton holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science from Duke University.
