Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network Partners With Premier, Inc. to Advance Population Health Management Efforts

Well-Respected Non-Profit Arizona Health System Using Full Suite of Premier Solutions to Integrate Care Delivery Across Clinicians, Departments and Services

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. and CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 2, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network (SLHN), one of Arizona's most respected non-profit health systems, has partnered with Premier, Inc. (Nasdaq:PINC) to further integrate care delivery in its evolution to a population health provider.

Last fall, SLHN was created through the system-wide affiliation of Scottsdale Healthcare and John C. Lincoln Health Network with a goal to build the healthcare organization of the future. Combined, SLHN has a long history of delivering high-quality care and fostering innovation. The health system now serves a population of 1.6 million people in the Valley of the Sun. SLHN's new partnership with Premier is expected to accelerate these efforts by delivering comprehensive quality improvement and operational efficiencies across the health system.

"Our goal is to provide excellent, cost-effective care and a patient experience that exceeds expectations," said Tom Sadvary, chief executive officer, SLHN. "Premier and Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network share this vision, as well as the aspiration to effectively improve the health of our communities. We believe this partnership will enable more integrated care practices and help us embrace transformations that transcend traditional acute-care services."

As a newly integrated health system, SLHN has become a Premier member owner and will now leverage Premier's full suite of supply chain, performance and technology services system-wide. John C. Lincoln Health Network was already an owner of Premier and has used its performance and supply chain services for seven years.

One of the services that SLHN will leverage is Premier's group purchasing organization, one of the nation's largest, managing approximately $41 billion in annual spend across more than 1,900 contracts. This extends the existing John C. Lincoln Health Network agreement and expands its purchasing volume to include Scottsdale Healthcare's three acute-care hospitals, two accountable care organizations (ACOs) and other care providers within the network.

"The magic in transforming healthcare is using data to analyze all of the pieces and identify improvement opportunities," said Michael J. Alkire, chief operating officer, Premier. "Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network is a world-class organization with a thoughtful and very methodical approach to thriving in this rapidly changing environment."

Susan DeVore, president and chief executive officer, Premier, said "Premier is excited to help Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network continue their progress in providing comprehensive care services that are affordable, safe and of the highest-quality."

All Premier services are available in the PremierConnect® integrated technology platform. The platform aggregates patient data on 1 in 3 U.S. hospital discharges and approximately $41 billion in annual provider purchases. It also enables real-time member interactions across the nation.

The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
