Industry Groundbreaking Energy Focus 500D Series LED Tube Lamp Offers 150 Lumens Per Watt of Light

SOLON, Ohio, Oct. 6, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Energy Focus, Inc. (Nasdaq:EFOI), a leader in LED lighting technologies introduces its new tubular LED (TLED) lamps, offering over 150 lumens per watt to achieve the most energy efficient, high-performance TLED in the lighting industry by a proven supplier. The new 4-foot 500D series tube uses a mere 11 watts of power, reducing lighting energy consumption by over 60% from a typical fluorescent T8 at approximately 28 watts and nearly 75% over T12 at approximately 40 watts, while generating far higher quality of light.

The new 200D, 300D and 500D series products that aim to replace fluorescent lamps, include 2-foot and 4-foot TLEDs with color temperatures ranging from warm white to cool white. To further add to the overall value, all products will be Design Lights Consortium (DLC) listed and will qualify for most utilities rebates allowing for a faster payback.

The new Energy Focus D-Series TLED lamps are 50 to 75% more efficient than fluorescent tubes. And unlike fluorescent sources, Energy Focus TLEDs are non-hazardous, mercury free, flicker free and could last 15 years at 8 hours per day operation. Compared to other TLED lamps, Energy Focus 500D series TLEDs are 35% more efficient than most name brand TLED products in the market today with efficacy levels remaining mostly less than 110 lumens per watt. In most fluorescent retrofit applications, customers can now achieve a significant reduction in their lighting utility costs with a short one to three year payback on investment on many applications.

With Energy Focus' highly efficient, cost effective and versatile lighting option, building owners do not have to replace the entire fixture housing with LED troffers. This significantly reduces replacement time and cost, as well as fixture waste; thereby achieving a much higher return on investment from the retrofit. Energy Focus D Series TLED replacement lamps work with fluorescent troffer housings and therefore preserve and significantly extend the lifespan of the existing housings, which are lower in cost than new LED troffers. Replacing only the fluorescent lamps rather than the entire housing also allows for easy adoption to higher efficiency and more intelligent TLEDs in the future, as LED lighting technology continues to rapidly evolve.

"Energy Focus is proud and excited to again introduce another industry-leading line of TLED lamps, firmly assuring that we offer the most advanced fluorescent replacement products at the lowest total cost of ownership in the market," said James Tu, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Energy Focus. "Offices, parking garages, hospitals, schools and universities, government buildings, as well as industrial facilities, which together account for more than half of all lighting energy consumptions, can now lower energy costs further, achieve higher sustainability goals faster, and improve lighting quality over fluorescent by installing this new generation of Energy Focus TLED lamps."
