Trapp--granddaughter of Maria and Baron von Trapp, whose
story inspired The Sound of Music --to present two
special performances at The Villages
"Women's Expo." The event will be held at the Polo Complex, 703 N.
Buena Vista Blvd. in Sumter County, Florida on Tuesday,
October 14, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Highlights of
Ms. von Trapp's concert repertoire range from "Bach to Broadway,
Schubert to Sting," and includes such tunes as "Favorite Things"
and "Edelweiss" from the beloved Sound of Music musical,
as well as gospel music, pop classics, and her own
compositions.
2015 marks the 50th anniversary of the film that introduced the
singing von Trapp family to fans around the world. To celebrate
this anniversary, Uniworld guests may join Ms. von Trapp as she
hosts the July 26 and August 2 "Enchanting Danube" departures for the
week, greeting guests with a welcome reception, concert, and
"Evening Sing-Along" onboard. Alternatively, select May through
September "Enchanting Danube" departures will feature an onshore
concert at the Mirabell Palace Chapel in Salzburg, Austria--the
"Do-Re-Mi" scene from the much-loved musical was filmed in the
palace's world-famous gardens.
For those with more time to travel, a private onboard performance
by the celebrated song stylist will be available on select sailings
of: "Danube Discovery &
Prague," "Delightful Danube &
Prague," "Grand European Discovery," and
" Grand European Explorer."
Ms. von Trapp has been singing professionally since childhood,
captivating audiences from European cathedrals to the Kennedy
Center in Washington, D.C. Building on her famous family's passion
for music, she has created her own artistic style at once ethereal
