ALM Promotes Kevin Michielsen to Head Up New Legal Media Division

NEW YORK, Oct. 7, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ALM, the leading provider of news and business information to the legal and real estate industries, today announced the appointment of Kevin Michielsen to take on the leadership of a new business group that will support growth in the company's legal media business.

Michielsen, the company's chief operating officer since 2012, has been named president of ALM's Legal Media Division. This new business unit will include all ALM legal media brands around the world – regional, national and international publications – as well as ALM's reference solutions products, which include Law Journal Press.

"Kevin has been a crucial leader in our company's transformation and I'm confident that he will provide us with the kind of senior leadership that the new Legal Media Division needs in order to be successful," said Bill Carter, president and chief executive officer at ALM.

Michielsen joined ALM in 2011 from Visant where he was vice president of strategy and business development. He also spent several years at LexisNexis in various general management and strategy roles, including vice president of strategy and operations for the U.S. Legal Markets group. Prior to that, he founded, grew and ultimately sold a successful e-commerce business in Latin America, and spent several years at McKinsey & Co.

The announcement of Michielsen's promotion to lead ALM's new Legal Media Division comes on the heels of an announcement earlier this month about the formation of a new Legal Intelligence & Advisory Division.

"Our goal with this reorganization is to make our company more market-facing so we are in the best possible position to deliver the specific kinds of news and information solutions our customers need to compete effectively in the marketplace," said Carter.
