CareConnect Announces Major Network Expansion

EAST HILLS, N.Y., Oct. 8, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CareConnect has joined with six of New York's top health care providers to expand its customer-service model of health insurance to all five boroughs of New York City and Westchester County, in addition to its original core service area of Nassau and Suffolk counties, Queens and Staten Island.

This expanded provider network, called the CareConnect Alliance Partnership, includes the following new members, who are affiliated with more than 4,200 physicians, and were selected based on their clinical excellence and commitment to CareConnect's vision of making it easy to get and stay healthy:

  • Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY: 398 affiliated physicians
  • Montefiore Health System, Bronx and Westchester counties, NY: 2,915 affiliated physicians
  • Mount Kisco Medical Group, Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties, NY: 334 affiliated physicians
  • Northern Westchester Hospital, Mount Kisco, NY: 80 affiliated physicians
  • Phelps Memorial Hospital Center, Sleepy Hollow, NY: 174 affiliated physicians
  • Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY: 227 affiliated physicians

"Health insurance may be the last business in America to come around to the idea that customer service matters," says CareConnect president and chief executive officer Alan Murray. "But because CareConnect is provider-owned, we can put customer service front and center. We're able to work with our doctors and hospitals to eliminate a lot of the hassles of health care, and our Alliance Partners want to bring that same high-touch approach to their patients."

With the agreements, CareConnect's network has grown to more than 14,000 providers at hospitals and physician practices throughout downstate New York. CareConnect members have access to North Shore-LIJ Health System, New York's largest integrated health system, whose facilities extend beyond Nassau and Suffolk counties to include Lenox Hill Hospital on Manhattan's Upper East Side, the Lenox Hill HealthPlex in the West Village, and Staten Island University Hospital (North and South). CareConnect's provider network also includes Allied Pediatrics (in Long Island, Queens, and Orange and Westchester counties) and ProHEALTH Associates (Long Island and the New York metropolitan area). MinuteClinic is also part of CareConnect's network, providing access to more than 900 walk-in medical clinics in select CVS/pharmacy stores across the country.

When open enrollment for 2015 coverage begins on November 15, CareConnect will offer plans for individuals, families, and small and large businesses across downstate New York. Its products will be available on the New York State of Health, as well as off-exchange.
