CDPHP Medicare Plans Receive 4.5 out of 5 Stars

ALBANY, N.Y., Oct. 9, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CDPHP is excited to announce our Medicare plans have once again received 4.5 out of 5 stars by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). In addition, the CDPHP Medicare Part D prescription drug plans received 5 out of 5 stars by CMS.

Each year, CMS rates Medicare plans on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, with 5 stars representing the highest quality. The overall scores are based on several key categories, including:

  • Staying healthy: screenings, tests, and vaccines
  • Managing chronic (long-term) conditions
  • Member experience with the health plan
  • Member complaints, problems getting services, and improvement in the health plan's performance
  • Health plan customer service

"CDPHP is thrilled with the results of the 2015 Medicare Stars ratings," said Dr. John Bennett, president and CEO, CDPHP. "Each and every day, CDPHP employees make it their mission to ensure our members receive the very best care. These ratings are proof of our commitment to quality and superior customer service," added Bennett.

The Star Rating System is an important feature of the Medicare Advantage program, as it encourages health insurers to strive for higher quality, which results in members receiving better care.

The open enrollment period for Medicare runs from October 15 to December 7, 2014.
