Icelandair Hotels, a subsidiary of Icelandair Group, will open a new luxury hotel in the center of Reykjavik in the beginning of the year 2016. The hotel will be located at Hafnarstraeti 17-19 which will be rebuilt from scratch. The new hotel will have 70 rooms. The main advantages of the hotel will be its central location and the ability to design, from the beginning, the facilities in accordance with the needs of the hotel.
This addition alongside the Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Kultura, that will be at Hverfisgata, and the enlargement of Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina, at Reykjavik harbour, is in line with the Company‘s strategy to get more high-end tourists to Iceland and by that improve the profitability of the Company and the tourism industry in Iceland in general.
The project will be implemented in cooperation with Sudurhus, which is the owner of the site and will be in charge of the constructions. Icelandair Hotels will lease the hotel facility for 20 years.
