GMEC Launches"TaoBao Girls" Project Through New Joint Venture Subsidiary


HONG KONG, Oct. 15, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Great China Mania Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB:GMEC) (the "Company" or "GMEC") announces the collaboration with a joint venture partner, Darren Kong, the executive director of VIE (Greater China) Limited (http://viemedia.asia), to set up two subsidiaries in Shanghai and Sydney, respectively. The Shanghai subsidiary takes an important role in this venture to operate the "TaoBao Girls".

"TaoBao Girls" is a models selection platform (http://mm.taobao.com) of Alibaba's Taobao online shopping mall (http://www.taobao.com), which offers young female models for its online stores to advertise their products and hence stimulates the product sales. TaoBao has been marketing "TaoBao Girls" aggressively through beauty contests in different locations of the world. In 2012, GMEC had formed partnership with TaoBao to organize the beauty contests in Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Australia and Malaysia. GMEC had also cooperated with Darren to manage the beauty contest and associated events in Sydney, Australia.

"TaoBao Girls" is regarded as one of Alibaba's (http://www.alibabagroup.com) most ambitious projects. Reports from Chinese media stated that billions of online sales in TaoBao are derived from making use of "TaoBao Girls" for product advertising. TaoBao models' incomes can be enormous as some of the top models can earn nearly $1.5 million a year. Considering the sales turnover in Taobao and the increasing demand for using models to advertise products, the Shanghai subsidiary will be able to capture considerable amounts of revenues through managing a group of top TaoBao models.

Through this joint venture, GMEC will be the majority shareholder on both subsidiaries and will provides its expertise on models scouting and management, while Darren will contribute his connections in local entertainment and commercial industries to facilitate the "TaoBao Girls" project. Darren has backgrounds of operating marketing events, modelling services and media productions in Australia and China, which have established excellent business relationships with many multinational brand names including BMW, L'Oréal, Kiehl's, Virgin Atlantic and Shangri-La Hotel Sydney. In addition, Darren will invest sufficient amount of capital to employ eight to ten employees to kick off the business operations.
