The Dublin-based academy, which has a long-standing partnership with Avid, found a new home in 2009 at the world-famous Windmill Lane Recording Studios. During the studio's 36-year history, renowned Studio 1 has hosted dozens of groundbreaking sessions from legendary artists including U2, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones and Lady Gaga, along with scoring for Hollywood blockbusters such as The Talented Mr. Ripley and The Mask.
In September, the academy launched a new Masters course that complements an outstanding catalogue of further education courses already using Avid solutions. With the Avid Artist Suite at the center of the year-long course, students develop the technical and musical skills necessary to succeed as composers. They record nine ensemble pieces using the suite's industry-standard Avid Pro Tools® production software and Avid Sibelius® music notation software. The course culminates in a full orchestral performance of their main composition in Windmill Lane's iconic Studio 1.
