USHCC Congratulates Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on SBA Grant

WASHINGTON, Oct. 20, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) congratulates the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (THCC) on securing a $250,000 grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Through this award, the THCC will expand its "Beyond Startup: Elevate Your Business Program," an initiative dedicated to promoting the development, growth, success, and long-term sustainability of small businesses.

The Beyond Startup Program is a groundbreaking initiative that works with small businesses seeking assistance under the SBA's 7(j) Management and Technical Assistance Program. Businesses eligible for this program include those located in areas with a high rate of unemployed or low-income individuals, as well as businesses eligible to receive 8(a) contracts. Through their SBA grant, the THCC will hire new staff and consultants to assist in the growth of this program.

"The USHCC is thrilled to see the SBA, under Maria Contreras-Sweet's leadership, recognize and support the critical work of our local chambers. By securing this significant grant, the SBA and THCC have demonstrated their commitment to strengthening America's small business community. We are proud to see our friends in Tucson taking great strides, not only as leaders for their city, but for our entire nation as whole," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "We look forward to seeing the positive impact this well-deserved award has on the city's economy and beyond."

As one of the fastest growing business organizations in Arizona, the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce advocates on behalf of local businesses through advocacy, networking, and economic development initiatives. The THCC has facilitated the economic development of the region by working consistently with local businesses and chambers of commerce.
