Nordic and Baltic Equity Indexes Transition to Global Index Calculator: December 8, 2014

*Please read: Clients may experience a disruption in data services if they do not take action.

  • From December 8, 2014, Nasdaq will calculate Nordic and Baltic equity indexes and related indexes via the Nasdaq Global Index Calculator.

  • The new calculator will be represented as a new source in Genium Consolidated Feed (GCF).

  • Index weights reports will move from File Delivery Service (FDS) to Global Index FlexFile Delivery, (GIFFD); and will also continue to be available in Global Index Watch (GIW). If you take index weights data via File Delivery Service (FDS) you will need to use our other options related to Nasdaq index weights data. Please note the format of these files will be different which will require new coding by recipient firms

Effective December 8, 2014, Nasdaq® will start to calculate Nordic and Baltic equity indexes (Fixed Income and Commodity indexes are not affected in this step of the migration) and other related indexes via its state-of-the-art Global Index Calculator powered by Nasdaq INET® technology — the world's fastest trading system technology.

  • In Genium Consolidated Feed (GCF), the indexes will be connected to a new source that replaces the current ICS sources. ICS sources not affected by this migration project will continue to be available in GCF.

  • Reports for the affected indexes will no longer be available in File Delivery Service (FDS) as of December 8, 2014. Customers may access index weights reports today via the Global Index Watch web service and index FTP service: Global Index FlexFile Delivery (GIFFD) – Nasdaq’s Premium Delivery Service.

Time Schedule

Date Task
December 8, 2014 Global Index Calculator becomes the official source for Nordic and Baltic Equity indexes (including VINX indexes).

Index weights reports will no longer be available on File Delivery System (FDS). Global Index Watch and a new premium FTP service - Global Index FlexFile Delivery (GIFFD) holds Nasdaq index weights data.

(Please note that file formats differ between FDS, FTP (GIFFD) and Global Index Watch (GIW) which will need to be coded for.)

This change brings Nordic and Baltic indexes to the same state-of-the-art Global Index Calculator engine powered by Nasdaq INET® technology.

Genium Consolidated Feed (GCF)
Indexes in the current ICS source systems affected by this migration will be transitioned to Global Index Calculator in December, 2014. View the enclosed document with system-specific information for additional GCF details.

Customers who receive index values data from GCF will continue to receive that data, but from the new Global Index Calculator (GIC) source.

File Delivery Service (FDS)
Nasdaq will only offer index weights file distribution via two delivery platforms: Global index Watch (GIW) and Global Index FlexFile Delivery, (GIFFD).

Global index Watch (GIW) is the standard service and a web-based platform.

Global Index FlexFile Delivery (GIFFD) is the premium service and a customizable FTP.

GIW & GIFFD file formats are different from each other.

Neither the GIW nor GIFFD file formats are similar to FDS.

Customers can elect to use both (GIW & GIFFD) or just one depending on their needs.
