Copenhagen, 2014-10-23 11:00 CEST (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Board of DSB has appointed a new CEO for the corporation. It will be Flemming Jensen who comes from a position as Executive Vice President, COO and spokesman for Scandinavian Airlines in Denmark.

Flemming Jensen was born in 1959 and is currently a member of SAS Group Management. Flemming Jensen started his career in Scandinavian Airlines in 1989, and since 2008, he has held a number of senior positions within SAS Production, such as Chief Operating Officer Production unit CPH. During the period 2002–2008, he was Chief Pilot and before that, he was a pilot. Flemming Jensen is a member of the executive committee and the general council of the Confederation of Danish Industry and a member of the board of Industrial Employers in Copenhagen (IAK). Flemming Jensen was originally trained as a pilot by the Royal Danish Air Force.

In connection with Flemming Jensen’s appointment, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of DSB Peter Schütze says:
“I am delighted that we have been able to attract such a highly qualified person as Flemming Jensen. With his extensive experience from SAS, Flemming has the right ballast to lead DSB and to implement DSB’s new strategy in cooperation with our many skilled employees. This will be of great benefit to our customers and ultimately to Danish society at large.”

Flemming Jensen himself looks forward to heading DSB:
”DSB is a fantastic corporation with all of Denmark as its customer. DSB has undergone major changes during recent years and is now a financially healthy corporation focusing on that which means the most to customers: the train services. A new and clear strategy for DSB has been devised, and I am looking forward to getting on with the job together with all my colleagues in DSB.”
The current CEO Jesper Lok will continue in the position until 1 December and will be available to the Board until 1 January 2015 when he will start a new appointment.

“When Jesper joined, he was asked to ‘to deal with the many challenges in DSB’. Not least the implementation of the “Healthy DSB” programme has brought the corporation far. With clear focus and commitment, Jesper has created a situation where we are now again in profit and with more trains on time than ever before. On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Jesper, and we wish him the best of luck in his new position,” says Peter Schütze, Chairman of the Board of DSB.

Flemming Jensen will take up the position as CEO for DSB no later than 1 May 2015 and will be paid an annual basic salary of DKK 4.5 million plus 25 per cent variable bonus (performance-related) together with 10 per cent in pension.
