Morgan Drexen Celebrates First Week of CHOC Children's Hospital Movie Theater

Company Helped Spearhead Creation of Theater Located Within the Hospital

COSTA MESA, Calif., Oct. 23, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Morgan Drexen Integrated Systems (http://morgandrexen.com) brought the magic of the movies to the patients of CHOC Children's Hospital by unveiling the new CHOC Children's Movie Theater last week, a five-month project that Morgan Drexen employees and management helped make a reality through their time, creativity, and donations; and today the company is celebrating the theater's first week of operation.

"It's been a very busy week for the hospital's movie theater," said Morgan Drexen CEO Walter Ledda. "Just since we cut the ribbon for the grand opening last week, the theater has already shown three big movies – 'Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day' on opening day, 'The Box Trolls' on Friday, and 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' this Tuesday. Tuesday's showing was especially exciting because the patients got to meet the movie producers who brought Ninja Turtles to life and have a question and answer session about how the movie was made and what it was like working on the set."

The CHOC Children's Movie Theater was a concept that Morgan Drexen employees developed in early May and became a reality through donations and cooperation between Christie Digital, Bergelectric, Eurotec, and the Lollipop Theater Network.

The theater project which began in May was designed to bring first-run movies and family favorites to children who are patients at CHOC Children's hospital and who because of their illnesses or long-term stays would not be able to see a movie in a typical movie theater.

"Having this movie theater is absolutely wonderful," said Stephanie DeMello, CHOC's child life manager. "Movie events like these – with more to come, help patients forget about their illnesses and injuries. We can't wait to see new friends eating popcorn together, and settling in to watch a movie together."

"There is nothing kinder and more rewarding then helping those who help sick children when they need it the most," Added Mr. Ledda. "CHOC never turns away a child in need and that's a commitment to excellence that mirrors the philosophy we follow in our own company. Without question, we look forward to supporting CHOC Children's Hospital for many years to come."
