Nash Health Care Utilizes Technology Ensuring Quality Communication

Utilization of Martti(TM) Video Medical Interpreting Bridges Language Gap for Patients, Providers

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 28, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- As the leading regional health care provider for over 35 years, Nash Health Care is committed to a philosophy that patients are more than simply patients and instead members of a shared community of neighbors and friends. Nash Health Care takes this commitment seriously. This responsibility involves recognizing the ever-growing cultural diversity and assuring that language differences are not a barrier to achieving the best health care possible.

Partnering with Language Access Network (LAN), Nash Health Care utilizes Martti™ (My Accessible Real-Time Trusted Interpreter), LAN's state-of-the-art technology, providing live Video Medical Interpretation services for its Limited English Proficient (LEP) and Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing patients. Martti units are lightweight and portable, allowing patients and providers to actually see and communicate directly with LAN's highly trained medical interpreters within seconds at the touch of the screen. "They are so easy to use, that our staff and patients are not intimidated by the equipment," explains Cindy Worthy, Nash Health Care's Executive Director Continuum of Care. "I always get positive feedback."

LAN interpreters are strictly medical and are among the most qualified in the industry and available in over 210 languages, including American Sign Language, via its dedicated HIPAA-compliant high-speed broadband network, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. "It is very important to us to have medically-trained interpreters. Prior to discovering Martti, we utilized a service that was unsatisfactory and did not meet all of our language needs. In addition, it was extremely expensive to have 24/7 access. Martti has been very cost-effective, while at the same time, expanding services to our patients and better meeting their language needs." Worthy added.

"Diversity in patient populations throughout the country is constantly growing. As a physician-led company, we understand that with clear communication at the onset of care, patients are much more at ease and providers have increased confidence in delivering accurate diagnoses and treatments," explains LAN founder and COO, Andrew Panos.
