Applied DNA Sciences Anti-theft Technology Adopted by European Car Makers

Applied DNA Sciences announced that company's technology is protecting European automotive manufacturers against the theft of automotive parts.

STONY BROOK, N.Y., Oct. 30, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - Applied DNA Sciences, Inc. (OTCQB: APDND), (Twitter: @APDN), a biotechnology firm that provides DNA-based authentication and security solutions and services, announced today that the company's technology is protecting European automotive manufacturers against the theft of automotive parts.

Two well-known automakers have chosen to use Applied DNA Sciences' anti-theft DNA marking technology to protect their vehicles imported into at least one EU country. New orders have been received within the week.

For each vehicle, a unique, botanical DNA-based mark is designed and applied to a vehicle in multiple locations. The SigNature® DNA mark provides absolute identification for the vehicle, while also recording the name of the owner of that vehicle in a secure database. The marks are covert and difficult to remove. If found, vehicles and their component parts are traceable back to its owner and location, from anywhere on the globe.

Said Dr. James A. Hayward, CEO and President of Applied DNA Sciences: "We continue to grow our portfolio of anti-theft products and to demonstrate the creativity and versatility of this technology. As a package, we believe the system is unique in offering crime deterrence as well as recovery."
