WASHINGTON, Nov. 5, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) and Events DC will host their Sixth Annual Embassy Celebration Dinner Series on Tuesday, November 18th at the Carnegie Library at Mount Vernon Square. This year, GWHCC will honor Ambassador of El Salvador Francisco Altschul with the Public Service Award in recognition of his great service and crucial assistance to many Salvadorians and Hispanics in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The GWHCC is honored to have Ambassador Albert R. Ramdin, Assistant Secretary General at the Organization of American States (OAS), to serve as this year's dinner Honorary Chair.
"This year's Embassy Dinner is filled with exciting new features, including the launch of our international initiative and inviting the President of Panama, Juan Carlos Varela, as our Keynote Speaker," stated Angela Franco, President and CEO of the GWHCC. "We are honored to recognize Ambassador Francisco Altschul from the Embassy of El Salvador with the Public Service Award. The Embassy of El Salvador has been a long-term crucial catalyst for Hispanic business growth in the Washington, DC metropolitan area."
During this year's Embassy Dinner, the Chamber will launch GWHCC's International Initiative, titled "Promoting Trade of the Americas," set to begin in 2015. "The Chamber believes in the importance of expanding outreach efforts internationally, and promoting more opportunities from our Nation's Capital to the Latin American Region and vice-versa, which also translates into unique trade business opportunities for our members and sponsors," said Syddia Lee-Chee, business owner and Chair of the GWHCC International Initiative. "This year we have the honor to count with the presence of international recognized leaders joining us with this international effort, including Ambassador Ramdin."
