Tandy Leather Factory, Inc. Reports October 2014 Sales Up 12% Over October 2013 Sales

Retail Same Store Sales Up 16%; Wholesale Same Store Sales Up 5%; Intl Same Store Sales Up 9%


FORT WORTH, Texas, Nov. 6, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tandy Leather Factory, Inc. (Nasdaq:TLF) reported today that sales for the month of October were $7.2 million, up 12% compared to October 2013 sales of $6.5 million. Year to date sales are up 5% to $66.4 million in the current year from $63.3 million last year.

Retail Leathercraft's sales rose 19% to $4.5 million compared to October 2013 sales of $3.8 million. The 76 comparable stores' sales were up 16% for the month compared to the same period last year. The four stores opened since October 2013 added October sales of $168,000. Year-to-date sales for Retail Leathercraft are $40.9 million this year, an 8% increase over sales of $37.8 million for the same period of 2013. As of the end of October, the 76 comparable stores' sales were up 6% compared to sales reported for the same period in 2013. 

Wholesale Leathercraft posted sales of $2.3 million for October, matching that of October 2013 sales. Within the Wholesale Leathercraft division, the wholesale stores' sales were up 5% compared to October 2013 sales while National Account group sales were down 100%, or $100,000, as sales to this customer group ended in April. For the year to date, Wholesale Leathercraft sales are $22.0 million, down 1% from the same period of 2013. As of the end of October, the wholesale same store sales were up 2% compared to sales last year while the National Account group's sales were down 69%.       

International Leathercraft reported October sales of $369,000, up 9% compared to October 2013 sales of $338,000. For the year to date, International Leathercraft sales were $3.5 million compared to $3.2 million in 2013, up 8%. All three stores in the segment have been opened for both periods, so same store sales for the month and year to date were the same as the segment's sales.
