Birmingham Wellness Center Offers Natural Anti-Aging Techniques

BIRMINGHAM, Mich., Nov. 9, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Birmingham Wellness Center is educating the public about natural anti-aging techniques that can help people lead longer, healthier lives. Dr. Jennifer Bonde and her contributing partner Dr. Kellyann Petrucci are providing patients with information on eating for weight loss, the role of bio-identical hormones in hormone replacement therapy, and strategies for rethinking eating habits and attitudes toward wellness. "Eating healthy, natural foods, restoring correct hormonal balances, and maintaining a healthy weight can make a profound difference in how you look, how you feel, and how you function," said Dr. Bonde.

Dr. Kellyann Petrucci has been featured on Dr. Oz, the Bethenny Show, and the Huffington Post for her advice regarding anti-aging and anti-inflammatory foods. She states that the way a body ages depends on the fine balance between the body's many systems and functions. She notes that skin elasticity, hormone balance, and weight can all create or contribute to the internal and external signs of aging. "The good news is that you can control so many of these variables by finding out what your body needs and then providing it," she said.

One of the most changeable of these variables, adds Dr. Petrucci, is diet. She states that just as a reliance on heavily processed foods can produce obesity and health problems, a diet consisting of foods with anti-aging properties can help individuals over 40 hang onto (or recapture) their energy and youthful glow. The nutritionist cites a recipe of hers for "Beyond Botox Soup" as one example. The chicken-based soup, she says, is loaded with naturally healthy ingredients that restore collagen to skin, support bone and joint health, boost the immune response, and serve as part of a nutritious weight loss regimen.

Dr. Petrucci urges overweight individuals to seek other healthy weight loss solutions as well. She notes that excess weight not only makes people look prematurely aged, but it also raises the risk for several forms of cancer. She recommends a low-carb (as opposed to low-fat) diet, strength training, and the elimination of sugars, flours, and grains from menus.

Dr. Petrucci and Dr. Bonde also promote the use of bio-identical hormones instead of the synthetic hormones traditionally prescribed for hormonal imbalances. As hormone levels drop with age, Dr. Petrucci explains, women may experience a condition known as perimenopause, including symptoms such as hair loss, loss of sex drive, sluggishness, mood swings and weight gain. Unfortunately, adds the practitioner, synthetic hormones made from horse urine or chemicals can never be a true match for the body's own natural hormones. "By contrast, bio-identical hormones come from plant sources with an identical chemical structure to human hormones, making them better at countering the effects of perimenopause and menopause," she said.

Birmingham Wellness Center also offers chiropractic care, massage therapy, yoga, natural pain relief and other services. Dr. Kellyann Petrucci offers more information on her website.
