FALLS CHURCH, Va. – Nov. 10, 2014 – Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) employees Noe Rodriguez and Art Felix received STAR awards at the Society of Hispanic Professionals (SHPE) conference Nov. 8-9 in Detroit. The STAR Awards are presented annually by SHPE, recognizing individuals and corporations nationally for their dedication, commitment and selfless efforts to support the growth and advancement of Hispanics through science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers.

Felix received the Community Service Award. He is a risk management program manager in Northrop Grumman's Information Systems sector responsible for establishing risk management processes and procedures across multiple programs. Prior to joining Northrop Grumman he managed a team of engineers designing components flying on the International Space Station.
Felix is active in the Northrop Grumman Hispanic employee resource group Adelante. He has led a team that has presented to some 1,500 students and parents at high schools, colleges and Hispanic groups on engineering careers, resume preparation and interviewing. He earned a bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering at California State University, Long Beach and a master's in Systems Management from the University of Southern California.
Rodriguez, a mechanical engineer in Northrop Grumman's Electronics Systems sector, received the Manager-of-the-Year award. He is credited with six patents, 19 patent disclosures and numerous acknowledgements of his contributions to military and civilian sensors, including electro-optical systems, microwave radar systems, thermal design, functional engineering, systems engineering and program management.
Rodriguez is an adjunct professor of math at local community colleges and has tutored high school students for many years, guiding them toward STEM careers. He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida and two master's degrees from Johns Hopkins University, one in mechanical engineering and the second in project management and system engineering.
