Morgan Drexen Continues Busy Fall Philanthropy Schedule

Company Supports Rescue Mission, CHOC Children's, Breast Cancer Awareness, Pure Game, and The American Red Cross

COSTA MESA, Calif., Nov. 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Morgan Drexen Integrated Systems (http://morgandrexen.com) continued its busy fall philanthropy schedule by announcing a company-wide Thanksgiving food drive benefitting the Orange County Rescue Mission. The food drive marks Morgan Drexen's 7th large fundraising event this fall at their company headquarters in Costa Mesa, California.

"Our company's executives and employees have really outdone themselves this fall with both the number of charitable events and the impact those events and donations have made in our community," said Morgan Drexen CEO Walter Ledda. "Our latest endeavor is our Thanksgiving food drive in support of the Orange County Rescue Mission. Last year our employees donated over 2 tons of much needed food, and we're happy to be back at it again this year."

Morgan Drexen's charitable support (http://morgandrexen.org) kicked off this fall with a 'Soccer Ball Challenge' where employees turned soccer balls into motivational art pieces for Pure Game, whose volunteers act as role models for at-risk youths and will use the inspirational soccer balls as rewards for kids who demonstrate integrity. "This was a new event for us," said Joe Lizura, the company's Vice President of Media and Public Relations. "The company split into teams and competed to decorate 30 soccer balls using materials found at everyone's desk along with their creativity and imagination – the soccer balls looked fantastic!"

During the month of October, Morgan Drexen took on the goal of supporting Breast Cancer Awareness month with multiple corporate events, including the creation of 'Team MD' to walk in the Making Strides Orange County walk. "We did events all month long," said Human Relations Manager Dina Iglesias. "By the end of the month we had raised over $2,000 to donate to the American Cancer Society and met our goal of raising awareness among our 200 employees about breast cancer."

Also in October, Morgan Drexen joined in the ribbon cutting ceremony at the grand opening of the CHOC Children's Hospital movie theater, a project Morgan Drexen employees began 5 months earlier when the company decided to spear head the project of creating a movie theater for child patients at the hospital who, because of their illnesses, could not see major motion pictures at crowded movie theaters like most healthy kids. "This was a particularly special project for us," added Mr. Ledda. "Through donations from our employees and the partners we worked with such as Christie Digital, Bergelectric, Lollipop Theater Network and Eurotec, we are able to bring first-run movies and family favorites to children who are patients at CHOC Children's hospital."

Morgan Drexen employees also took part in the company's third blood drive of the year for the American Red Cross, and also decided to support a Los Angeles running team comprised of low-income, high-risk students who are training for the LA Marathon in a few months.

"Our corporate philosophy is all about helping people," continued Ledda. "Which is why giving back to those in our community who need assistance is something that comes naturally to everyone here."
