USHCC Statement in Response to White House Endorsement of Title II Regulation

WASHINGTON, Nov. 11, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The following statement should be attributed to Javier Palomarez, President & CEO, United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce:

"The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) is concerned about the White House's call for increased and unnecessary regulation over the Internet. Reclassifying broadband internet as a Title II common carrier service will likely impair innovation, drive costs higher, and disincentivize economic growth – especially among small businesses. Additionally, applying new rules to mobile services will disproportionately affect Hispanics, who lead all ethnicities in smartphone adoption and use of mobile devices to access the Internet. The USHCC believes that appropriate incentives, not regulations, will ensure investment and innovation are nurtured and preserved. The free market has proven to strengthen broadband networks and services that enable entrepreneurs to create 21st century jobs. Let's keep the market free."
