CNL Commercial Real Estate, Faison and Crescent Resources Partner to Fund Community Program

Charlotte, N.C., Nov. 24, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- To commemorate the growing partnerships between three of Charlotte's leading real estate firms, CNL Commercial Real Estate (CCRE), Faison Enterprises and Crescent Communities have agreed to join efforts to support a new program being introduced to the Charlotte community.

CCRE, Faison and Crescent have sponsored the 2015, third- to fifth-grade class of a new program called Lasting Impressions. Lasting Impressions is a joint venture between the Greater Enrichment Program (GEP) of Charlotte and the Charlotte Youth Ballet (CYB).  The program features an introduction to classical ballet taught by CYB-sanctioned instructors, during GEP time at their afterschool facilities.  Additionally, the program will cover the transportation costs and ballet attire for the 15 third, fourth and fifth graders that have been selected from three of Charlotte-Mecklenburg's Title 1 schools.  The program capitalizes on the benefits of participation in the arts as an avenue towards greater academic achievement. Lasting Impressions will also inspire a love for ballet and performance, and instill within the students the etiquette, poise and discipline at the core of classical ballet.  The initial year of this innovative program will culminate in an end-of-year recital, as well as interaction with professional guest artists and multiple performance-going opportunities for students and their parents.

GEP and CYB have created a unique opportunity to serve the at-risk youth and families of the Charlotte community.  These real estate partners look forward to Lasting Impressions' contribution to developing the youth within a city that they have been passionately building in for generations.  Questions about this incredible program, our partnership or ways you can get involved, should be directed to Bronica Glover at GEP (BGlover@gepinc.org) or Liza Loeber at CYB (lizal@charlotteyouthballet.org).

Serving approximately 300 students per school year from 3 of CMS's Title I schools, Greater Enrichment Program (GEP) has dedicated 38 years to improving the lives of Charlotte's most at- risk children. Founded in 1975 by local humanitarian Bishop George Battle, GEP has developed a program model that has a proven track record of student's achievement, parent engagement and successful community collaborations.  GEP contributes to a range of positive outcomes for students including academics, good social and emotional development, safety and community engagement. GEP's top priorities are to: Improve the academic success of all students; build positive self-esteem and character; encourage students to give back to their community; expose students to a variety of cultural experiences; and build family relationships.

Charlotte Youth Ballet (CYB)

Dedicated to the mission of providing gateway experiences for the many underserved youth in our community, the Charlotte Youth Ballet has long maintained a practice of granting free access to our ballet productions to those school children with the greatest need.  CYB casts that include approximately 100 school-aged children in professional caliber performances are presented to approximately 2,500 students per year, at least half of whom come from at-risk CMS schools.  CYB seeks to enhance the educational experiences of Charlotte's youth by: Seeking corporate and grant funding to offset the cost of school tickets and transportation to performances; providing Teacher Guides to all schools attending our shows which offer educational enrichment opportunities both before and after their theater experience; and offering access to CYB's Before The Curtain events that take place prior to matinees and give students a peek into what it takes to become a ballet performer.
