Patent application number: 2013-184604

Patent application filing date: September 6, 2013

When carrying out a fraud investigation or an e-discovery project using UBIC's Predictive Coding, the fundamental aspect of the process is the creation of a dynamic, high-precision knowledge base which is used as training data for the Lit i View software. The "Active Knowledge Base" technology covered by this patent stores and analyzes data containing information and knowledge related to past litigation cases, investigation cases, and results drawn from Predictive Coding. This capability enables users to access a knowledge base which is always fine-tuned to the requirements of their environment, helping them to facilitate investigations related to a new case dealing with information leakage or fraud.

"We believe that this patent is a testament to the superior innovation that underlies the highly-accurate document analysis provided by UBIC," stated UBIC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Masahiro Morimoto. "In this advanced digital age, when the processing of vast volumes of data is necessary, our cutting-edge technology will open up new business frontiers, such as corporate fraud investigation and email auditing. UBIC aims to provide data analysis solutions in a broad range of new fields, including health care, intellectual property evaluation support and national security. By further honing our AI-based technologies and expanding our portfolio of intellectual properties, UBIC will continue to provide additional value-added eDiscovery services to customers worldwide."
