Black & Veatch Joins Smart Cities Council

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Dec. 1, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Black & Veatch today announced that it has joined the Smart Cities Council. The Smart Cities Council is an industry coalition that aims to advance smart, sustainable city development around the world. Partners of the organization include global leaders in technology, finance, policy, engineering and city management.

Black & Veatch's smart city offerings enable organizations to manage critical infrastructure. These services deliver greater system efficiency and resiliency. This is achieved through the integration of distributed infrastructure, smart devices, communication networks, operational technologies, and data analytics.

"The Smart Cities Council is excited to welcome Black & Veatch as a partner," said Jesse Berst, Smart Cities Council Chairman. "City leaders rely on trusted advisors to help design and deploy smart solutions. This requires an understanding of the complex relationships that drive progress; the type of work in which Black & Veatch excels."

"Black & Veatch looks forward to working with the Smart Cities Council to promote the transformation of cities," said Rick Azer, Director of Development for Black & Veatch's Smart Integrated Infrastructure solutions. "We are focused on using our industry, engineering and analytics expertise to help communities around the world."

The Smart Cities Council is an advisor and market accelerator that promotes cities that embody the core values of livability, workability and sustainability. The Smart Cities Council relationship is among several of Black & Veatch's smart city partnerships. In June, the company announced that it had joined CleanTECH San Diego.
