Florida County to Increase Public Transparency With New World

TROY, Mich., Dec. 2, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Alachua County, Florida soon will increase its transparency and accountability to the public by using New World Systems® Logos.NET™ local government software solutions.

According to Todd Hutchison, Alachua County's Finance Director, Logos.NET enables the county to generate and upload monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the county's website. These reports are available for public consumption and highlight the county's commitment to financial stewardship.

"We currently use an AS400-based system, which makes it difficult to provide user-friendly reports to citizens in a timely manner," Hutchison said. "With Logos.NET we intend to change this as we will be able to increase our transparency and accountability by uploading monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the county's website."

Alachua County, home to the city of Gainesville and the University of Florida, recently selected the Logos.NET Public Administration Software Suite to replace its aging software system and related hardware. This system will help service the county's 247,336 citizens.

Hutchison said the county had strict requirements for a new system as they needed a web-based and enterprise-wide solution capable of improving workflow, increasing reporting capabilities, and eliminating third party applications. The county also wanted a solution that would enable it to move toward a paperless environment.

"The evaluation committee that selected New World included representatives from all major functions of the county," Hutchison said. "The committee was impressed with all of the features of Logos.NET, especially the reporting capabilities of the system. The committee was also impressed with New World's attention to detail and ability to deliver the software solution on time and under budget."

Hutchison said Logos.NET will also increase staff productivity as the software solution will allow the county to process accounts payable and receivable transactions more efficiently.

"Our accounts payable and accounts receivable processes are currently decentralized and very labor intensive," Hutchison said. "We have several duplicate efforts being performed in outlying departments and in the accounting department. With Logos.NET we will be able to automate the work flow and eliminate redundancies."

Trusted by more than 2,000 public sector organizations nationwide, New World Systems designs, develops, markets, supports and implements the Logos.NET™ Public Administration Suite for local governments and integrated Aegis™ Suite of Public Safety Solutions for Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS.
