UPS Delivers First Holiday Wishes

The wonder of children highlighted in first videos

ATLANTA, Dec. 3, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- UPS® (NYSE:UPS) is making some special wishes come true beyond its regular daily delivery of millions of packages this holiday season. Your Wishes Delivered, a campaign designed to invite the public to share their wishes during the holidays, launched in mid-November and videos of the first Wishes Delivered are available to be viewed.

The first Wish Delivered arranged for a group of fourth graders in Corpus Christi, Texas, to see snow for the first time in their lives. The city experienced a rare and remarkable snowfall 10 years ago - before any of the children were born - and there has been a recurring wish to have snow return. A second Wish Delivered let a little boy in Colorado Springs, Colo., who has a special relationship with his UPS driver, realize his dream to be a UPS delivery man for a day.

"Our employees often share stories of the excitement that our deliveries generate, especially during the holiday season," said Kate Gutmann, UPS senior vice president of sales and solutions. "Our hope is to share these moments as well as deliver some special wishes made by the communities we serve."

Since its launch, the campaign has collected thousands of wishes tagged with #WishesDelivered. The company will donate $1 for each wish submitted using #WishesDelivered to one of three charities - The Boys & Girls Clubs of America, The Salvation Army or Toys for Tots Literacy Program*.

These charities are benefitting in other ways. Another posted video captures a shopping spree for the holidays by children from The Boys & Girls Clubs of America. UPS enabled a fun afternoon of the kids shopping for themselves in New York City while selecting a gift for The UPS Store® team to package and ship straight from its location within the toy store to Toys for Tots.

Many common themes have been expressed in the wishes, including the support for military veterans and food for the hungry. UPS has turned those shared wishes into additional donations of $2,000 each to Operation Homefront and the World Food Programme. These and other donations are featured on the site's Wishes Delivered tab.

UPS will continue to share the #WishesDelivered posts made before Dec. 31, 2014, with the promise of more special deliveries to come.

* Total amount to be donated not to exceed $100,000.
