ePlus Helps Santa Spread Holiday Cheer to Children in the Hospital this Holiday Season

HERNDON, Va., Dec. 4, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Somewhere in the North Pole, Santa is preparing his sleigh and putting the final touches on his naughty and nice list. But often those who are hospitalized during the holidays don't have the opportunity to show Santa in-person what good little boys and girls they've been (and let him know what tops their wish list). Fortunately, that will change for many children this year as Santa Claus has found a way to visit without having to rouse the reindeer! Children will experience the spirit of the season as Santa makes an important cyber-stop—thanks to the magic of the latest mobile and collaboration technologies.

ePlus inc. (Nasdaq:PLUS) has teamed up with Cisco to bring a live feed of Santa's Workshop to children in three hospitals:

  • Pennsylvania State Hershey Children's Hospital on December 3
  • New York Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital on December 4
  • Johns Hopkins Children's Center on December 10

Santa will visit with children in the hospital's playroom, and a mobile cart or iPad will help Santa travel room-to-room for a bedside visit for those who don't feel well enough to leave their rooms. Much like children who are able to sit on Santa's lap, patients will have the opportunity to pass along their wishes this holiday season in plenty of time for St. Nick to make his list and check it twice!

"We're thrilled to help bring the magic of the holidays to children who can't be in their homes through the Cisco Santa Connection program," said Mark Marron, chief operating officer of ePlus. "Putting the power of collaboration technology into Santa's able hands will help bring his joyful presence to young patients. We are honored to be part of such an important mission—straight from the North Pole."

About Cisco Santa Connection

During the 2014 holiday season, approximately 50 hospitals throughout North America will participate in the Cisco Santa Connection Program. This interactive experience enables hospitalized children to remotely connect and communicate with Santa using Cisco's video collaboration technologies. Through the magic of the Internet, the children are connected over video directly to Santa's workshop in the North Pole where they can share their wish lists directly with Old St. Nick. After a personal conversation with Santa, children can join their families and enjoy a holiday party complete with gifts at the hospital. The Santa Connection Program was developed seven years ago to provide children and their families a bit of holiday cheer and happiness during their hospital stay.
