MONTERREY, Mexico, Dec. 4, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V., known as OMA (Nasdaq:OMAB) (BMV:OMA), reports that terminal passenger traffic at its 13 airports increased 15.1% in November 2014, as compared to November 2013. Domestic traffic increased 14.7%, and international traffic increased 17.5%.
Of total November traffic, 97.8% was commercial aviation and 2.2% was general aviation.

Domestic traffic increased in nine airports in November. The most noteworthy increases were in Monterrey (+24.1%; +107,014 passengers), San Luis Potosí (+69.0%; +10,670), Ciudad Juárez (+17.9%; +10,640), and Tampico (+21.3%; +10,526). Monterrey traffic increased principally on the Mexico City and Cancún routes. San Luis Potosí traffic increased on the Mexico City, Monterrey and Cancún routes. Ciudad Juárez traffic increased on the Mexico City, Monterrey, and Bajío routes. Tampico traffic increased on the Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Villahermosa routes.
During November, Aeroméxico opened the Monterrey – Torreón and Torreón – Monterrey routes; VivaAerobus opened the Ciudad Juárez – Hermosillo route; and Interjet opened the Monterrey – Ciudad del Carmen route.
International traffic increased in eleven airports in November. Traffic increased most significantly in Monterrey (+22.7%; +17,050 passengers), principally as a result of increased traffic on the Houston route.
In November, Aeroméxico opened the Monterrey – Houston route; Delta opened the Monterrey – Los Angeles route; and VivaAerobus opened the Monterrey – San Antonio route.
The number of flight operations (takeoffs and landings) in November increased 5.9% as compared to the same month of last year. The number of domestic operations increased 4.8% and international operations increased 13.7%.
