Language Access Network Provides Medical Interpreting for Make-A-Wish(R) Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana

Medical Interpretation Service Overcomes Language Barriers in the Wish Granting Process

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions has been the mission of Make-A-Wish® for more than 30 years. Columbus, Ohio-based Language Access Network (LAN) has partnered with the Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana chapter of Make-A-Wish to provide its medical interpreting services for Limited English Proficient and Deaf and Hard of Hearing wish kids and their families during initial interviews of the wish process, which are conducted to understand the child's wish.

"Make-A-Wish serves children from all walks of life and while we have been able to meet the demand for interpreting in some of the more familiar languages needed, we are beginning to see families who speak languages for which interpreters are not as readily available," explains Marketing and Communications Manager Emily Denholm. "We are so grateful that LAN has stepped forward, offering services to help us bridge communication with these children and their families."

Language Access Network provides Audio and Video Medical Interpretation services in over 210 languages to Limited English Proficient and Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing patients in hospitals and other healthcare facilities across the country, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

"We are honored to provide an important service for a meaningful organization like Make-A-Wish. As a company that provides strictly medical interpretation services, we feel it is a perfect extension of what we do every day and therefore a very relevant way for us to give back to our community," said LAN founder and COO, Andrew Panos.
