Mercury Marine and IAM Lodge 1947 Agree to Contract Extension

Agreement in place to fortify the company's competitive position in the marketplace and the community today and into the future.


FOND DU LAC, Wis., Dec. 15, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - Mercury Marine and the negotiating committee of the labor union, IAM Lodge 1947, have announced a contract extension through 2021. The five-year extension was voted on by the members of the IAM Lodge 1947 and will be signed by both Mercury Marine and its labor union.

The new contract will remain in place through August 28, 2021. Complete details of the agreement will not be made public but includes wage increases, ratification bonuses, health care and wellness initiatives.

"While rebuilding the relationship between our members at IAM Local Lodge 1947 and Mercury Marine is an ongoing process, I believe ratification of this extension is a first step in the right direction, IAMAW District 10 business representative Benito Elizondo said. "The new agreement is good for our members, Mercury Marine and the community."

"This agreement and extension of the collective bargaining agreement today allows us to look forward to a bright future ahead for Mercury Marine," said Mercury Marine President John Pfeifer. The agreement is the culmination discussions between Mercury Marine and its labor union to ensure that the company continues its fortification of leadership. Mercury Marine employs close to 2,800 people at its global headquarters in Fond du Lac and more than 5,200 worldwide.
