Meridian Health Joins Cerner to Aggregate Population Health Data Across Multiple EHRs

Meridian to Implement Cerner HealtheIntent-Based Solutions Across More Than 100 New Jersey Facilities

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec. 18, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Meridian Health, a leading not-for-profit health organization in New Jersey, will join Cerner Corp. (Nasdaq:CERN) to help manage patient population health data from multiple non-Cerner acute and ambulatory Electronic Health Records (EHRs).

Meridian will use HealtheIntent-based solutions, to help evolve from a hospital network to an organization that manages its populations one person at a time.

The HealtheIntent platform aggregates and normalizes clinical, financial, operational and claims data from multiple, disparate sources in near real time.

"For the first time, Cerner will deliver timely and actionable insights about the health of a population in an environment without Cerner's EHR solution," said Zane Burke, president, Cerner. "With HealtheIntent, Meridian is taking a step toward a more efficient use of data."

Meridian will implement HealtheIntent-based solutions, including HealtheRegistries™, HealtheCare™ and HealtheEDW™ (Enterprise Data Warehouse) across its more than 100 locations. These offerings can help Meridian provide clinicians with better insight of their patient population and improve engagement with members, their families and care providers.

"Working with Cerner, we have the ability to proactively identify potential gaps in care and analyze utilization patterns. Providing full data integration across the continuum of care can drive quality improvement," said Becki Weber, senior vice president, CIO, Meridian Health. "It's all about providing the right tools, to the right people, at the right time to quickly identify quality and safety opportunities, as well as cost efficiencies."
