The Ensign Group Acquires Urgent Care Clinics in Colorado

MISSION VIEJO, Calif., Jan. 7, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Ensign Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENSG), the parent company of the Ensign™ group of skilled nursing, rehabilitative care services, home health, home care, hospice care, assisted living and urgent care companies, announced today that it acquired Integrity Urgent Care, consisting of two urgent care clinics located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  The purchase was effective January 1, 2015.

"Integrity Urgent Care presents the perfect opportunity for our urgent care operations to expand into a second market," said Christopher Christensen, Ensign's President and Chief Executive Officer. "This investment shows our increasing commitment to the healthcare community in Colorado and we are in an excellent position to become a market leader for urgent care services in this market, much like we've done in the Seattle, Washington area," he added.

Integrity Urgent Care, which was founded by Lori Japp, PA-C, has been operating for over 7 years and under her leadership it has developed a reputation for building exceptional clinical systems.  Both of Integrity Urgent Care Clinics are Joint Commission accredited, evidence that patient safety and quality of care have been top priorities.

"I am grateful to the key members of Integrity for their tireless efforts to become great both clinically and financially," said Michael Dalton, President of Immediate Clinic Healthcare, Inc., Ensign's subsidiary for urgent care operations.  "We will be following the Ensign model – a lean decentralized operating philosophy where decisions are made by local leadership at the local level – and we are pleased that Lori Japp will continue to lead Integrity into the future," he added.

This purchase brings Ensign's growing portfolio to 140 facilities, eleven hospice agencies, thirteen home health agencies, two home care businesses and sixteen urgent care clinics across 12 states. Mr. Christensen reaffirmed that Ensign is actively seeking additional opportunities to acquire real estate or to lease both well-performing and struggling skilled nursing, assisted living and other healthcare related businesses across the United States.
