Gladstone Land Increases Its Monthly Cash Distribution by 16.7%


MCLEAN, Va., Jan. 13, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Gladstone Land Corporation (Nasdaq:LAND) (the "Company") announced a 16.7% increase in its monthly cash distribution, beginning with the months of January, February and March 2015. The new per-share cash distribution rate is $0.035 per month, or $0.42 per year.

"We are pleased to be able to increase our monthly cash dividend and pay more earnings to our shareholders," said David Gladstone, Chairman. "Our acquisitions of additional farms during 2014 have resulted in increased earnings, and, as a real estate investment trust ("REIT"), we are required to distribute at least 90% of our taxable income to our stockholders. Additionally, because we invest primarily in farmland, we have very little depreciation compared to other types of REITS, meaning a lower percentage of our earnings are sheltered from taxes. This is the first increase in distributions since our IPO in January 2013, and we do not expect it to be the last. If we are able to meet our projections during the upcoming year, we are hopeful that we may be able to increase the distributions again during 2015. The average yield on all REIT stocks is about 3.7%, and we have now passed that milestone. We believe that 2015 will be a great year for our Company. Please eat more fruits and vegetables."
