Abengoa Strengthens Corporate Governance of Its Board of Directors


  • Abengoa appoints current CEO as first vice-chairman and makes Antonio Fornieles second vice-chairman and the new lead director.

WASHINGTON, Jan. 19, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The meeting of Abengoa's board of directors held on January 19, 2015, appointed the current CEO, Manuel Sánchez Ortega, as first vice-chairman (replacing José B. Terceiro) and independent director Antonio Fornieles Melero to be lead director, second vice-chairman and a member of the Audit Committee and the Appointments and Remuneration Committee.

Antonio Fornieles has spent most of his career in the audit area of KPMG where he was responsible for the audit function at KPMG España as well as being Global Chief Operating Officer, among other functions.

The board of directors also appointed Professor José Borrell Fontelles as chairman of its Strategy and Technology Committee.
