USHCC President & CEO Responds to 2015 State of the Union Address

WASHINGTON, Jan. 20, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The following is a statement by United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President & CEO, Javier Palomarez:

"Tonight during President Obama's second to last State of the Union, we heard the President address a number of issues that have been at the forefront of our nation's economic agenda, including education, international trade, and immigration. The USHCC applauds the Administration's commitment to ensuring the American economy continues to grow by taking a balanced approach to our nation's challenges.

While we may not agree on all things, the USHCC recognizes the large strides our economy has made since President Obama entered office during the nation's largest economic downturn since the Great Depression. As the President mentioned in tonight's address, our economy is creating jobs at its fastest rate since 1999 and our unemployment level, at 5.6%, is the lowest it's been since 2008.

The USHCC believes President Obama's proposed efforts to bolster the middle class, place a world-class education within reach for our children, and train high skilled workers will ensure American businesses are able to out-compete, out-build, and out-innovate the rest of the world.

We look forward to continuing our work with the President and Congressional leaders to move forward on solutions that promote economic growth and a more prosperous, shared American future."
