ENR NAMES THREE AT BURNS & MCDONNELL TO ITS REGIONAL 'TOP 20 UNDER 40' LISTS

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Jan. 28, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Three employee-owners from Burns & McDonnell's network of national offices have been named to this year's 'Top 20 Under 40' regional lists by Engineering News-Record, a top trade publication.

Two of the professionals, Jason Cabral and Jason McCreary, work in Burns & McDonnell's New England regional office in Wallingford, CT. The third, Dotun Famakinwa, is based in the firm's Atlanta regional office.

Each year, the ENR regional publications choose 20 people under the age of 40 who exhibit qualities such as leadership, career progress, community involvement and creating landmark projects for their region.

A jury of industry leaders judge nominees based on their industry experience and education; career and industry leadership, and community service and involvement.

Cabral and McCreary were named to the ENR New York 'Top 20 Under 40' list.

Cabral has managed some of the largest electric reliability projects in the country. Some of his most recent accomplishments include serving as a project manager on the Greater Springfield Reliability Project. In his role, Cabral led a project team who logged more than 2.9 million man-hours on a project without one loss time injury, and completed the project on time and under budget.

He currently serves as program manager for FirstEnergy's Large Transmission Project Program, where Burns & McDonnell's performance has earned them a role for the same client on a large initiative called Energizing the Future. His community service efforts have included contributions to the United Way, support for tornado victims in western Massachusetts, and organizing toy drives for children in need.

McCreary has traveled around the world and boasts a long list of accomplishments in his 12 years with Burns & McDonnell. In the Northeast and Canada, Burns & McDonnell helps manage more than $7 billion in infrastructure improvements projects. That volume of work presents non-stop challenges to the electrical Transmission & Distribution engineering group that McCreary serves as department manager of in Wallingford.

McCreary has worked with school science and engineering groups to mentor young students and is also an active supporter of the United Way.

"We are very proud of each of them for such prestigious recognition," said Brett Williams, president of the Burns & McDonnell New England regional office. "They make our company proud every day, and it's exciting to see them both recognized among this coveted group."

Famakinwa was named to the ENR Southeast 'Top 20 Under 40' list.

During his six years as an associate and substation department manager, he has proven to be a talented engineer and exceptional manager. He currently manages a team of 18 employee-owners in the firm's electrical Transmission & Distribution practice.

"A common refrain you'll hear from his team is their desire to be just like him,"says Arnold Olender, Vice President of the Burns & McDonnell Atlanta regional office. "Dotun has razor sharp problem-solving skills and a natural talent that draws out people's strengths. That's why he is a go-to guy for leading some of our most complex projects."

Famakinwa is responsible for managing the largest number of substation projects for Georgia-based Southern Company. He also coordinates projects for Duke Energy Progress and Duke Energy Florida. Famakinwa is regularly tapped to lead roles in a range of key projects including power plant system upgrades and industrial distribution system upgrades, both vital to the electrical infrastructure of the region.

As for community service, Famakinwa is actively involved with the United Way of America and the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities. His commitment to human rights, education and children is central to all of his volunteer activities.
