Closure of two Russian breweries

Following last year's suspension of production at two of our Russian breweries, the Carlsberg Group has evaluated its Russian production structure.

As a consequence of this, the Carlsberg Group has decided to close two of its 10 breweries in Russia. The two breweries are located in Chelyabinsk (Baltika-Chelyabinsk) and Krasnoyarsk (Baltika-Pikra). The sales and distribution organisations will be maintained in the two cities but supplies will in future be sourced from the remaining eight Russian breweries. The closures will reduce the Russian capacity by approximately 15% and will impact 5-600 employees.

The closures, including related restructuring, will result in a pre-tax, non-cash write-down of approximately DKK 0.7bn. This amount will be included in special items for 2014 and will have no impact on 2014 operating profit or adjusted net result.
