The World Travel Awards serve to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry. Regional ceremonies were held throughout the year and winners from each of these competed in the grand finale to determine the winner of each of the "World's Leading" categories. At regional ceremonies, Avis was named "Leading Car Rental Company" in North America, South America, the Caribbean, Asia and South Africa, among other honors.
