Cybersecurity Dominates the Agenda for Directors Attending the NACD Strategy & Risk Forum

First U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge to Share Insights

WASHINGTON, Feb. 12, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) today announced its 2015 Strategy & Risk Forum, to be held in San Diego, CA, on May 12 and 13. Keynote speaker Tom Ridge—former U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security and current CEO of Ridge Global, a risk-management consulting firm—will address boardroom leaders, general counsel, and corporate executives on how they can manage, mitigate, and respond to the cyber risks that now exist in the global marketplace.

Ridge will be joined by an array of other directors and renowned authorities on cybersecurity, who will share their expertise in keynote speeches, panel sessions, peer-exchange working groups, and networking breaks. See the complete agenda at www.NACDonline.org/StrategyAndRisk.

Large-scale cyberattacks on banks, retailers, media outlets, and governments have demonstrated that cyber risk must be proactively addressed in a world of rapidly evolving technology and political unrest. The agenda focuses on the implications that cybersecurity has for business operations, and session topics reflect both immediate and long-term concerns: defining and prioritizing key threats; global threats to critical infrastructure; disclosure, liability, and reputational risk; big data; shareholder activism; and the risks and rewards of globalization.

Peer-exchange working groups and customized learning-track options on Day Two will be tailored to directors and general counsel, allowing participants to engage with their peers in candid discussions around issues related to their particular boardroom roles.

"Threats posed by cyber risk are in the news every day. Even the largest corporations find themselves the targets of attacks," said NACD CEO Ken Daly. "Directors, as the stewards of their organizations, must collaborate and proactively combat risks to ensure their companies' technology infrastructures are ready. This is a vital issue in which shareholders also want to see strides made in light of recent data breaches."

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Laban P. Jackson, audit committee chair, JPMorgan Chase & Co.
  • Raymond V. Gilmartin, former lead director, Microsoft; former chair, president, and CEO, Merck & Co.; director, NACD
