Yonik Seeley, Creator of Apache Solr Search Engine Joins Cloudera

Open Source Luminary Adds to Cloudera's Deep Bench of Open Source Talent


PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 19, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cloudera, the leader in enterprise analytic data management powered by Apache Hadoop, today announced that Yonik Seeley, the founder of the Apache Solr enterprise search engine has joined Cloudera. Solr is an open source NoSQL search server that offers a fast search platform with features such as faceted search, analytics, and highly scalable distributed search. Seeley is also an Apache Lucene/Solr PMC member and committer, an Apache Software Foundation member, and the author of other projects such as Noggit, the fastest streaming JSON parser for Java.

Prior to joining Cloudera, Seeley co-founded both Lucidworks (formerly Lucid Imagination) an enterprise search technology company offering commercial support, consulting, training and value-add software for open source Lucene and Solr, and Heliosearch, a company dedicated to the development and support of Solr, and a number of other high profile projects. Well-known as a talented developer and luminary in the open source community, Seeley adds to the deep bench of Cloudera open source talent including, Doug Cutting, Michael Stack, Mark Miller, Wes McKinney and others.
