SeaChange to Participate in 2015 RDK Users Conference

ACTON, Mass., Feb. 19, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Multiscreen innovator SeaChange International, Inc. (Nasdaq:SEAC) will share its Reference Design Kit (RDK) product achievements and market experiences with the global service provider and vendor community at the 2015 RDK Users Conference (Feb. 24, Denver).

The RDK Users Conference is the annual forum for leaders helping to shape the direction of the RDK. RDK licensees will explore the vision for RDK beyond 2015, including plans to extend to broadband devices and updates on global expansion.

SeaChange will demonstrate its Nucleus video gateway software, which leverages the RDK, as integrated with multiple SoC and set-top partners for hybrid (QAM & IP) and IP-only implementations. An early RDK licensee and developer, SeaChange's significant contributions of software components last year helped extend the RDK's applicability for use in Europe and other markets using the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) standard.

Jay Samit, CEO, SeaChange commented, "The RDK's positive influence has paved the way for high value innovation that's bringing new advantages to service providers and vendors alike. We're honored to show the product of our ongoing collaboration with our colleagues across the RDK community around the world."

The RDK was created to accelerate the deployment of next-gen video products and services. It enables TV service providers to standardize certain elements of these devices, but also easily customize the applications and user experiences that ride on top. To date, the RDK has been licensed by more than 25 operators globally. The RDK now has more than 200 licensees including, CE manufacturers, SoC vendors, software developers, system integrators, and TV service providers.

The RDK is administered by the RDK Management, LLC, a joint venture between Comcast Cable, Time Warner Cable, and Liberty Global. The RDK software is available at no cost to RDK licensees in a shared source manner, and RDK community member companies can contribute software changes and enhancements to the RDK stack.
