Inaccurate Health Insurance Information Has Small Impact, Should Not Deter Taxpayers From Filing Taxes

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA--(Marketwired - Feb 20, 2015) - Liberty Tax, Inc. (NASDAQ: TAX)

The federal government announced today that incorrect tax information was provided to several consumers who enrolled in health insurance, but the news should not dissuade taxpayers from getting their 2014 taxes prepared well ahead of the April 15 filing deadline, according to Liberty Tax.

About 800,000 consumers were given inaccurate information on their 1095-A forms, according to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. That means the vast majority of the 6 million who enrolled in Marketplace insurance have accurate information that they can provide to their tax preparers.

"It's an unfortunate error, but it doesn't affect everyone," said Chuck Lovelace, Vice President of the Affordable Care Act for Liberty Tax. "We encourage people who received their 1095-A to move ahead with getting their taxes done, unless they've been asked by the government to delay."

Liberty Tax's income tax preparers are well versed in the Affordable Care Act and can help taxpayers understand their requirements under the law.

Liberty Tax has made the merger of health insurance information and income tax preparation a seamless process for consumers.
