LAT Registry, a partnership between NIC Mexico (Network Information Center Mexico) and eCOM-LAC (Latin American and Caribbean Federation for Internet and Electronic Commerce) has joined the Hispanic Chamber of E-Commerce as a corporate sponsor to support HISCEC's efforts to provide new tools that can help businesses interested in reaching out the Latino market in a more meaningful and strategic way.

.LAT domain registration, an extension that will identify Latinos on the Internet, has started today.

This new domain is starting its Sunrise phase, during which trademark holders are given the opportunity to request the registration of the .LAT domain that matches with their brand before the .LAT is open to the public. To be able to participate during Sunrise, it is necessary to register the brand at the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH).

The Sunrise process will run for 60 days, starting February 16 and ending on April 16, 2015.
