Nymity's Ongoing Data Protection Accountability Research to Support the Commission for Personal Data Protection, Republic of Bulgaria

TORONTO, Feb. 24, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Nymity is proud to announce the signing of a long-term cooperative agreement with the Commission for Personal Data Protection, Republic of Bulgaria, to support the Commission's accountability initiatives. The agreement underscores the recent commitment of the Commissioner's office to promote and implement the principle of accountability - an approach similar to that of the European Data Protection Supervisor, and the Privacy and Data Protection Regulators in Canada, France, Hong Kong, and Colombia.

Terms of the agreement include granting the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection, Republic of Bulgaria permission to use the Nymity Privacy Management Accountability Framework. The accountability framework is a Nymity research initiative which identifies all privacy management activities and structures those activities based on 13 privacy management processes. The accountability framework is global in scope, frequently updated, and made freely available, subject to terms and conditions of use.

Commenting on the agreement, Mr. Ventsislav Karadjov, Chairman of the Board for the Personal Data Protection in the Republic of Bulgaria (CPDP) said, "The new European legal framework which is under discussion in the EU Parliament and the Council will introduce the accountability requirement to be followed by data controllers. By applying the Nymity Privacy Management Accountability Framework in compliance with the EU and the Bulgarian data protection framework, and considering the Bulgarian data controllers' needs, the Commission for Personal Data Protection lays down the necessary preconditions for the fulfillment of EU General Data Protection Regulation in Bulgaria."
