Compuware Subject Matter Experts to Address MIPS Management, COBOL V5 Migration at SHARE Seattle

As Previously Announced, Company Will Demo New and Highly Anticipated Integrations Between Compuware Strobe and BMC Cost Analyzer for zEnterprise and BMC MainView

DETROIT, Feb. 26, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Compuware Corporation, the world's leading mainframe-dedicated software company, today announced it will host two technical sessions at SHARE in Seattle: MIPS Management Strategies for a Mobile World on March 4 and COBOL Migration Strategies on March 6. The sessions will help users assess and manage growing mobile workloads on the mainframe as well as build a successful migration strategy to get to COBOL V5. In addition, Compuware will also co-facilitate a vendor sponsored (VSP) session on March 4 with BMC Software on the strategic partnership the companies have formed to help customers manage their mainframe operational costs.

Session: MIPS Management Strategies for a Mobile World

With the exponential increase in the number of Web and mobile transactions that require servicing, organizations can no longer rely on traditional MIPS Management practices to address performance issues and remediate costs. Compuware MIPS Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) Spencer Hallman will highlight new strategies users can employ to save costs and improve application performance. He will also help session attendees get a handle on the often misunderstood rolling 4-hour average (R4HA) of mainframe utilization—measured in MSUs. Equipped with this knowledge, users can better assess and manage the impact that new workloads—including hard-to-measure mobile workloads—are having on MSU peaks.

Session: COBOL V5 Migration Strategies

There are significant benefits to migrating to COBOL 5.1, but not all mainframe shops have initiated migration projects. Compuware SME Jim Liebert, who has been assisting organizations with COBOL migration, will share best practices for moving to this new and highly beneficial version of COBOL.

VSP Session: BMC and Compuware: Partnering to Improve Mainframe Economics

This session will highlight the technology integrations of BMC Cost Analyzer for zEnterprise and BMC MainView with Compuware Strobe that provide intelligent workload performance management and tuning to help companies drive down costs. Jonathan Adams, Vice President and General Manager, ZSolutions and Select Technologies, BMC and Dennis O'Flynn, Vice President of Product Development, Compuware will facilitate.

Tech Integrations Demonstrations

Compuware will also demo the integrations between Strobe and BMC Cost Analyzer and BMC MainView in Booth 101, March 2-4.
